Biographical Overview

Marcia H. Armstrong was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area of California and is a graduate of Burlingame High School. She later attended the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, where she majored in history & the social sciences.

Marcia has more than 27 years of business experience, half of which was obtained in the corporate world. Her practical knowledge includes: office management, budgeting, employee benefits, insurance underwriting, team-building, and management skills training.

She acquired a broad-based knowledge of county government through her experience as a local print journalist covering all Board meetings, and subsequently as Executive Director of the Siskiyou County Farm Bureau and the Siskiyou County Cattlemen's Association. During the past decade she has worked with local government to initiate county resolutions and to provide information that has helped to formulate county policy on resource management issues. She has served as an appointed county representative to the Technical Advisory Committee of the federally designated Klamath River Fisheries Task Force; as a designated member of the Siskiyou County Comprehensive Land and Resource Management Committee; and as Chairman of the Siskiyou County Federal Land Exchange Review Committee.

Ms. Armstrong moved to Siskiyou County in 1988 and resides in the Quartz Valley area of Scott Valley. She is the mother of two grown children. Her daughter, Sarah Dias, is a high school history teacher in Tracy, California. Her son Jonathan Dias resides in Chico, California. Both are graduates of Etna High School.
