
The office of the Family Law Facilitator is an
important and useful free resource for residents of
both counties.
The Facilitator is an attorney who can discuss the matters listed below,
answer your questions and explain what your options are. The Facilitator
only assists people who represent themselves. The Facilitator is neutral
and does not represent anyone in court. The Facilitator’s office can
give you legal information and help you with many issues including:
| • Child support, spousal support | • Responding to papers which have been served upon you |
| • Establishing parentage | • Name change |
| • Divorce, separation, annulment | • Emancipation |
| • Custody and visitation issues | • Restraining orders |
| • Step-parent adoptions | • Guardianships (call before coming into a clinic) |
| • Orders after hearing | • Small claims |
| • Modification of existing orders | • Evictions |
The Siskiyou County Family Law Facilitator conducts free self-help clinics at two locations: at the city hall/courthouse in Weed and at the courthouse in Yreka.
Dissolution (Divorce) Workshop: All
customers wishing to utilize the Self-Help clinic to file for
dissolution, nullity or legal separation must attend the Dissolution
(Divorce) Workshop at the Yreka Courthouse, held on most Fridays.
Call 530.842.0157 to pre-register no later than 4:00 pm on the Thursday
before the scheduled workshop. The check-in time is 8:30 a.m. at
the Law Library in the basement of the courthouse at 311 4th
Street, in Yreka. Before traveling long distances, please call
530-842-0157 on the day of the clinic for last minute schedule changes.

Legal Services of Northern California has a
clinic twice a month in Yreka, Mount Shasta and Burney for family law issues. You must
contact their Shasta Regional office in Redding to schedule an
appointment for Yreka and Mount Shasta clinics. Burney location is
a walk-in clinic held the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month from
10am-3pm.
