What happens if someone complains about me?

County staff will make a site visit to determine if any violation of the Siskiyou County Code exists. The property owner and/or tenant will be contacted and a letter explaining the problem and how to correct the situation will be sent.

The County will make every effort to work with the violator as long as progress toward abating the violation is occurring. If efforts at resolution are ignored Notices of Violation will be sent followed by an infraction citation into Superior Court. Fines for a first violation are $100 per count plus an enforcement fee of $300 per count. A second conviction within a twelve month period carries a fine of $300 plus an enforcement fee of $300 per count. A third conviction can be charged and punished as a misdemeanor with a fine of $600 and/or six months in jail.
