Siskiyou County Behavioral Health Services Programs "Pathways" Day Rehabilitation Program...

Providing an intensive psychosocial service with a variety of group activities for those with acute and chronic psychiatric conditions.

What Services are Provided?

  • Group Instructions and activities:

    • Cognitive and assertive training and counseling

    • communication and life skills

    • relaxation/desensitization and positive imagery to assist in managing stress and anxiety

    • current events which focus on improving concentration and memory

    • food management skills to teach preparation, cost effectiveness, and nutrition.

  • Individual therapy...Sessions can include significant others or family members as needed upon a release signed by the client.

  • A variety of personal and social skills are taught and practiced in the program and in the community.

  • Classes are also specially offered by the College of the Siskiyous to help our clients learn such skills as computer literacy and how to improve their general health through an adaptive physical education class.

What About Medications?

Medications support services are provided by an experience psychiatric nurse or a registered nurse. They assist in monitoring and assessing the effectiveness of prescribed psychiatric medications.

What About Empowerment?

Special emphasis is also placed on teaching our clients:

  • to utilize community resources

  • skills associated with living independently in the community

  • money management

  • how to obtain and maintain permanent shelter

Who Goes to Day Rehabilitation?

Referrals are made through outpatient program staff following an initial assessment.

Individuals who are admitted:

  • are at risk of hospitalization

  • were recently discharged from an acute inpatient hospital

  • need close monitoring and treatment services to restore personal independence and maintain stability in their daily functioning.

How Long Does Someone Stay?

The length of time spent in this program varies for each individual. Consideration is given to the severity and complexity of the psychiatric condition and may vary from as little as one month to several years.

What Happens After Day Rehab?

Upon graduation from the program, the client may be referred to one or more of our other programs for outpatient services.

If continued monitoring and support are needed, services are provided through Case Management, which assists the client in maintaining stability and independent functioning.

Medication support services will continue as long as the psychiatrist and the client believe medications are helpful.

Psychiatric And Medication Services

The need for specialty psychiatric services is determined through assessment and referral from primary care providers (family doctors or clinics) and by a mental health clinical staff who assesses the need for specialty psychiatric services.   Psychiatric services are provided by a team of experienced psychiatrists and supported by experienced licensed nursing staff.    The team works collaboratively with other Behavioral Health programs and community health care providers in order to provide continuity of care to each individual served.

Next Step Chemical Dependency Program...

Located at 2060 Campus Dr., Yreka, CA, offering drug and alcohol treatment services and classes pertaining to addiction, recovery, and improved daily living to pregnant and parenting women in Siskiyou County.

Please note that Medi-Cal does not cover Alcohol and Drug Abuse or Perinatal Services, but payment is based on a sliding scale dependent upon a client's ability to pay. Some special services require a separate fee.
