Jim Cook is the third generation of his family to live and work in Siskiyou County. Jim grew up in the Ontario/Chino area of southern California and attended Cal Poly University where he received bachelors and masters degrees in biology. Jim and Ann Cook moved to Siskiyou County in 1980 and have raised two sons in the Shasta Valley. Jim acquired his broad based understanding of our county’s issues while working for the past 20 years for Great Northern Corporation, a local grassroots, non-profit community development organization. Assisting small businesses, drinking water and wastewater utilities and working with local ranchers has developed Jim’s ability to understand the difficulty of business and family survival in our region as well as increasing his practical skills at management and budgeting. Jim has brought over 17 million in grant dollars to various projects throughout our region. Jim served on the Siskiyou County Farm Bureau
Board, the Montague United Methodist Board of Trustees, the Shasta Valley
Resource Conservation District Board, as a 4-H Leader and on the Willow Creek
School Board before being elected to the Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors. |
