Grace and husband David raised their three sons in Yreka, all of whom graduated from YHS and went on to college. Grace has owned and operated her own business in Yreka for more than 20 years. She served three terms on the Yreka City Council and was Mayor for two of the twelve years. As a Council member, she served with energy and distinction on the City’s Audit and Investment Commission, the Siskiyou County Economic Development Board, the Local Area Formation Commission and the downtown Revitalization Committee. For 14 years she was a member of the Board of the Collier Interpretive and Information Center, serving various terms as President, Secretary, Treasurer and Operations Director. Civic, community and youth activities have been a part of Grace Bennett’s entire adult life. She was a member of the Yreka Soroptimists International service club, a member of the 2000 Leadership Siskiyou County classes, President of the Yreka Women’s Softball League, President of Yreka Babe Ruth League and coach of the Yreka High School junior varsity softball team. Through all of these activities and community experiences, Grace maintained long-standing, important relationships with many federal, state and local government agencies throughout California. As a member of the Board of Supervisors, she will work hard to ensure that vital services such as fire, law enforcement and infrastructure are sustained to protect and benefit the citizens of Siskiyou County. Grace believes that working together, exploring new ideas, and pooling knowledge and resources are the keys to success. |
