Register - Your
Vote Really Counts!
The Siskiyou County Clerk urges you to register
and vote in future elections in your community. |
Requirements
for Registering to Vote:
You
may register to vote if you:
1) are currently
a United States Citizen
2) will be
at least 18 years of age at the time of the next election, and
3) are not
in prison or on parole for a felony conviction.
The
registration deadline is 15 days before an election to qualify to vote in that election.
Re-Registration
If you have permanently moved to a
different address, changed your name, or wish to change your political party affiliation
you must re-register to vote. The deadline to re-register is 15 days before the next
election.
How and Where
to Register
You may register by completing a
registration-by-mail form. Forms are available throughout Siskiyou County at city halls,
libraries, Department of Motor Vehicles, public assistance offices, post offices, and the
Social Security office.
Voter information and/or registration
forms can be obtained at the County Clerk's office. Registration-by-mail forms may be
requested during regular business hours (8a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday - Friday) by calling at
(530) 842-8086. You can also register to vote on

You should receive a Voter Notification
Card approximately 2-3 weeks after registering. Please verify that the information on the
card is correct. Notify the County Clerk of any necessary corrections.
Voting Material
Before each election, official sample
ballot pamphlets containing candidate and measure information are sent to all registered
voters.
Vote by Mail
Applications
If you prefer to vote by mail, you may
apply for an absentee ballot. An application is on the back cover of your sample ballot
pamphlet, or by writing the County Clerk's Office at 510 N. Main St., Yreka, CA 96097.
You can also download the
Application for an Absentee Ballot in PDF format and follow the
instructions on the form to fax or mail.
The written request must include the
date of election, your residence address, signature, and address where the absentee ballot
is to be mailed. Requests for absentee ballots must be received by the County Clerk's
office no later than 7 days prior to the election. For Permanent Absent Voter information,

Polling locations and the time polls
are open may change from one election to another. Be sure to check the back of
your sample ballot pamphlet for your polling place location and time. If you need

Under new federal and state election
laws, registered voters who move within Siskiyou County without notifying the County
Clerk's office of the address change may vote at the polling location for the NEW
residence address or at the County Clerk's Office.
...such voters must provide proof of
residency by showing a drivers license or two of the following:

utility bill, mortgage, or lease papers,
-
mail addressed to voter at new
residence, etc.
Voters who moved within
28 days of the election without notifying the County Clerk's office of the address change
may vote at the polling location for either the New or Prior residence or
at the County Clerk's Office. Proof of residence as listed above will be necessary.
