Food Stamps, Medi-Cal,
County Medical Services Program (CMSP), and General Assistance (GA). In
addition, staff is responsible for the administration of numerous subsidiary
programs such as: Homeless Assistance, Diversion, Transitional Medi-Cal, and
Stage 1 Child Care.
Families in Siskiyou County who need help
to meet monthly bills during times of unemployment and partial employment may receive
assistance from the CalWORKs program. Assistance with medical bills is provided
through the Medi-Cal and CMSP programs. Food Stamps help supplement low income
families with their food purchases. General Assistance is available to unemployed adults
and disabled adults not eligible to other cash programs.
The programs administered though ETAS
have eligibility requirements based on income, property, and resources.
Each program has a different set of eligibility criteria. You can come to our office during normal business hours to apply for
assistance any time you feel you are in need.
You may also call our office to apply for assistance. Regulations allow up to 45 days from the
date of application to determine eligibility for cash assistance and Medi-Cal/CMSP. We have up to 30 days to determine eligibility for the Food
Stamp Program.
WIC
provides coupons to
pregnant women
or women with children
for milk, cheese, fruit juice, cereal and other staples, so if someone
qualifies for food stamps, they may qualify for WIC, and get more food.
