| Book
and Tuition Reimbursement |
Employees may apply for book and tuition reimbursement approval for up to a
maximum of $500 per bargaining agreement contract year. |
| Cafeteria Plan |
The County allows participation in a
Dependent Care Assistance Plan and a Health Care Spending Account that
allows participants to use pre-tax dollars to pay for child care, elder care
expenses and/or out-of-pocket health care expenses. |
| Deferred
Compensation |
The County offers two plans and, in addition, contributes a monthly amount to
department head, assistant department head, professional, and Sheriffs management
classifications. |
| Holidays |
The County recognizes 12 traditional holidays per year with an additional three
days for floating holidays. |
| Insurance |
The County offers dental, vision,
short-term and long-term disability insurance, and a comprehensive health
plan. |
| Life
Insurance |
The County contributes 100% to a life insurance policy for the employee.
Additional coverage may be added at the employees expense. |
| Professional
License fees |
The County reimburses the employee for required professional license fees up to
$200 except that the state bar dues for attorneys are reimbursed in full. |
| Retirement |
California Public Employee Retirement
System (CalPERS) with 2% at 55 and single highest year of salary for
retirement benefit calculations. The County also participates in Social
Security retirement including the mandatory Medicare contribution. Safety
employees retire with 3% at 50 through CalPERS with no integration with
Social Security. The County also offers a 457 plan to which employees may
contribute in order to enhance their retirement and decrease their current
taxable income. |
| Sick
Leave |
Employees earn the equivalent to 12 days annually with unlimited accumulation.
Upon retirement in certain circumstances, unused sick leave is converted to retirement
service credit within a PERS formula. |
| Vacation |
Vacation with pay begins at ten days annually for full-time positions. Permanent,
part-time positions will have these days prorated. Vacation increases to 15 days after
five years of employment; 20 days after ten years of employment. |
