Public Health & Community Development is an agency consolidation that occurred in 2007 as a result of a decade-long vision to provide "one stop shop" permitting for property development.

The Agency consists of five Divisions committed to serving the development, public health and preparedness needs of Siskiyou County.

BUILDING DEPARTMENT

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DEPARTMENT

PLANNING DEPARTMENT

OFFICE OF EMERGENCY SERVICES

PUBLIC HEALTH NURSING

The Agency has three primary missions:

  • The Agency is committed to providing an efficient streamlined
permitting process for land use entitlement, (use permits, land
divisions), building permits, and well and septic permits.

  • Public Health Nursing and Environmental Health staff are
committed to the protection, preservation and improvement of
the public health and environmental conditions or our
community. By working cooperatively, these divisions prevent
disease outbreaks, monitor the communitys health and promote
    healthy behaviors.

  • Office of Emergency Services (OES) is committed to the goal of keeping Siskiyou County constantly prepared for a large disaster. Utilizing the four phases of Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery, OES strives to achieve this goal by working closely with many state, county, and local entities such as Personal Health Nursing, Environmental Health, Law Enforcement, Fire, and Public Works.
