Payment
of Taxes:
Payment by Mail: Make payments by mail or at the County Tax
Office. Return the appropriate stub or stubs with your payment in the return envelopes
provided. Checks and money orders should be made payable to SISKIYOU COUNTY TAX COLLECTOR,
and show the mailing address of the payer and also the parcel number as shown on the bill.
Any check returned unpaid by the bank will not be redeposited. Also, there will be a
$35.00 fee for each check returned unpaid by the bank for any reason. If a check is
returned unpaid, the Tax Collector must collect penalties required by State Law. (WHEN
DECEMBER 10 OR APRIL 10 FALLS ON SATURDAY, SUNDAY OR A LEGAL HOLIDAY, THE HOUR OF

Payment of
Taxes on Assessment Appeals: If you have submitted an assessment
appeal application to the Clerk of the Board, you must continue to pay your
property taxes by the designated due dates.
PENALTIES: If your first installment amount is unpaid after December
10, a 10% penalty is added to the first installment amount due. If your second installment
amount is unpaid after April 10, a 10% penalty plus a $20.00 cost fee is added to the
second installment amount due. AFTER JUNE 30, A $15.00 REDEMPTION FEE AND PENALTY IN THE
AMOUNT OF 1-1/2% PER MONTH WILL BE ADDED TO THE UNPAID TAXES AND PENALTIES LISTED ON THE
BILL.
RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PROPERTY OWNER: The property owner must ensure that the
taxes are paid by the due dates specified. FAILURE TO RECEIVE A TAX BILL DOES NOT RELIEVE
THE TAXPAYER FROM THE RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY TAXES OWED, NOR DOES IT GIVE THE TAX COLLECTOR
REASON TO CANCEL PENALTIES IMPOSED. If you own other property, be sure to obtain a
separate bill for each parcel.
CHANGE OF ADDRESS: You must maintain a current mailing address for
each parcel that you own. If you have moved, or if the mailing address shown on the face
of your tax bill is incorrect, please notify the Siskiyou County Assessor at the County
Courthouse, Room 108, 311 Fourth Street, Yreka, CA 96097.
IDENTIFICATION OF PROPERTY: The best identification of the property is
the PARCEL NUMBER. CHECK PARCEL NUMBER AND PROPERTY LOCATION (SITUS) TO BE SURE THIS IS
THE CORRECT PROPERTY ON WHICH YOU SHOULD PAY. The law does not permit the Tax Collector to
authorize refunds for payments made on the wrong property except under certain specified
conditions.
IF
YOU HAVE SOLD THIS PROPERTY, PLEASE FORWARD YOUR BILL TO THE NEW OWNER OR RETURN IT TO
THIS OFFICE WITH THE NEW OWNER'S NAME.
