Sanitation

The mission of the General Services Sanitation Division is to provide an integrated, cost-effective and environmentally sound solid waste disposal system to all county residents, homeowners and commercial enterprises.  This will be accomplished through coordinated administrative, operational and educational projects in waste reduction, reuse, recycling and disposal.

Funding for the program comes from two sources — property-related fees and gate fees. Revenue from these two sources is deposited in a Sanitation Enterprise fund and can only be used for the Sanitation program.

If after reviewing the webpages that explain the waste process and fees you still have questions, call 530-842-8220 or use the Contact Us option and select Sanitation as the department.

Property Related Fees

If you feel your fees are in error you may contact the Sanitation Division at 530-842-8220 for review or fill out the Solid Waste Exemption and Refund Application found under Supporting Documents below.

Gate Fees

Gate fees are charged all residents dumping at the Oberlin Road, Black Butte, Tulelake and Happy Camp Transfer/Recycling Station.  The current fee schedule is found on the Waste Disposal Guidance & Fees page.
