Recorder Division

The Recorder accepts for recordation any instrument, paper, or notice which is authorized by law to be recorded. Once these documents are recorded, the Recorder makes this information available for examination by interested parties and issues copies upon request (see Fee Schedule below).

In addition, the Recorder maintains and indexes the vital records of birth, death, and marriage certificates.

Important Announcement: Siskiyou County Assessor-Recorder’s Office is open to the public. Over-the-counter services will be limited to follow Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) guidelines.  Please follow posted instructions at the entrance to the office.

Hours:  8:00am - 12 noon and 1:00pm - 5:00pm

Document Recording Hours:  9:00am - 12 noon and 1:00pm - 4:00pm

To avoid possible delays, please note the busiest times for the Recorder's Office are as follows:

  • Between the hours of 1:00pm and 3:00pm
  • Friday afternoons
  • Last working day of the month
  • Last two weeks in August (mining claim filings)

The Office of the Recorder is prohibited from giving any legal advice or assisting in document preparation.  We do not provide any legal forms or notary services.  Various types of forms may be purchased at office supply or stationery stores. Once you have the appropriate form, you may prepare it yourself, consult legal counsel, or contact a local title company, escrow company, or legal document service.
