Visit the NEW TREE MORTALITY Task Force page located under Commissions & Committees..  Overgrown forests, drought, and bark beetle are destroying forests throughout California. Since 2010, over 102 million trees have died throughout the State, and 850,000 acres throughout Siskiyou County are impacted by tree mortality. In September 2016, the Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors passed a resolution forming a Tree Mortality Task Force Group. The Task Force aims to carry out a proactive tree mortality program including federal, state, local, public and private entities to promote and initiate processes and projects to decrease the impacts of tree mortality throughout the County. The Task Force also engages is outreach and education to provide the public and stakeholders with options to identify, remove, and dispose of trees. Please visit the Tree Mortality web page for more information and helpful tools.

The State of California OES just finished work on a documentary of our recent historic drought, the State of Urgency.  Very worthwhile to watch and even discusses our own Story of Montague's water crisis.
