Notice of Drone/Aircraft Operations - Broadband Installation Project

The County received the following memo regarding Drone/Aircraft Operations that will take place in a specific area in the county (map attached) from February 29 - March 7, 2024. This is a part of the Broadband Installation Project that is taking place throughout the county. 

RE: Drone/Aircraft Operations – County of Siskiyou

Dear Resident,

This notice is to inform you that from February 29th, 2024 – March 7th, 2024, AirWorks crews will be conducting work in your area as part of a broadband installation project in your community. During this time, you can expect to see drones conducting operations in the community at about 200-feet to 3,000- feet high as well as some ground crews conducting safety checks and taking measurements on the ground. Work will be conducted between the hours of 7AM to 5PM. Minimal sound disruptions should occur. Please note that weather conditions may affect the ability to deploy the drones safely and any update to the scheduled dates will be communicated.

The data captured by this operation only includes utility structures (poles and wires), roads, sidewalks, and curbs and is only used for mapping purposes. Data collection through the use of drones and aircraft greatly increases the speed at which the city can complete community improvement initiatives such as this broadband installation/expansion project.
