The Office of the Family Law Facilitator is an important and useful free resource for residents of both counties. The Facilitator:

  • Is an attorney
  • Can discuss the matters listed below
  • Can answer your questions
  • Can explain what your options are
  • Only assists people who represent themselves.
  • Is neutral and does not represent anyone in court
  • Give you legal information and help you with many issues including:
    • Child support, spousal support
    • Establishing parentage
    • Divorce, separation, annulment
    • Custody and visitation issues
    • Step-parent adoptions
    • Orders after hearing
    • Modification of existing orders
    • Responding to papers which have been served upon you
    • Name changes
    • Emancipation
    • Restraining orders
    • Guardianships (call before coming into a clinic)
    • Small claims
    • Evictions

Legal Services of Northern California

Has a clinic twice a month in Yreka, Mount Shasta and Burney for family law issues.  You must contact their Shasta Regional office in Redding to schedule an appointment for Yreka and Mount Shasta clinics.  Burney location is a walk-in clinic held the second and fourth Tuesday of every month from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm.
