Apiary Program

An open bee hive with bees in evidence

The Siskiyou Counties Apiary Program emphasizes the registration and site location of honey bees in the county. The Agricultural Commissioner’s staff inspects colonies for strength and health to ensure effective pollination.

Honey Bee Swarms: Honey Bees will sometimes leave the hive in a swarm to start a new hive. This is a natural behavior of colony reproduction that allows the bees to find new food sources when the hive gets large, and is not a great cause for alarm.

If you experience bee swarms at your residence please call us at 841-4112 for Beekeepers that could be available for remove the swarm.
