Noxious Weed Control

field taken over by Dyer's Woad (Marlahan Mustard) and Hoary Cress

In effort to protect native and endangered species as well as important crop and forest land, Siskiyou County operates one of the largest noxious weed programs in the state. Noxious weeds reduce livestock forage, displace native plant and animal species, and create fire hazards, increase soil erosion and cause economic losses to the agricultural industry and more.

Invasive weed management programs include:

  • Pest eradication and infestation management
  • Biological control research and monitoring
  • Right of way vegetation management
  • On site weed identification and evaluation
  • With partners, a display educating the public on noxious weed identification and control

Please Note:  If you are applying for a No Spray Zone on County road right-of-ways, you must also fill out an Encroachment Permit application.
